Many poker players spend their time at the table performing chip tricks to kill the boredom between hands and to impress or intimidate the newer players. There is a saying that goes “Beware of the player doing chip tricks, it means they’ve spent a lot of time at the poker table.”
Chip tricks are not hard but the do require a little manual dexterity and a lot of practice.

How to flip a poker chip
Start with three poker chips.

Stacking the chips
Stack the chips on top of each other.This will make them easy to handle.

Forming the tripod
Make a tripod using your index, middle and ring finger. This will be used to cradle the chips.

Starting position for the chips
Rest the chips in the center of the tripod you created with your fingers.
Apply slight pressure with the sides of your index and ring fingers.

Angle the chips
Angle the chips slightly forward.
This will cause the edge of the first chip to stick out a little from the back two.

Grip the first chip
Bring your thumb down to the edge of the first chip.
Squeeze the first chip gently between your thumb and the pad of your index finger.
Hold the 2nd and 3rd chip in place nestled in the tripod of your fingers.

Begin the lift
Roll the first chip up with your thumb and index finger.
Maintain pressure on the other two chips with the sides of the ring and index finger to keep them secure.

Bring thumb back
Continue to roll the chip to the top of the other two.
Bring your thumb back to cause the front chip to come over the top of the other two.

Over the top
As the chip comes over the top apply a slight downwards force with your thumb.
Gravity will now do the rest for you.
The chip will flip down behind the other two.

Guide the chip
Guide the chip in place with your thumb and repeat.
